What to Expect

Welcome!

We welcome you to First Congregational Church! As the sign on our front lawn says, “we are disciples of Jesus ‘delighted to share not only the Gospel of God but our lives as well’ (1 Thess. 2:8)”.

Sundays at First Congregational

Our Greeters  As you walk through the doors at First Congregational Church our greeters will be here to answer any questions you may have and to assist you in finding whatever you need before, during or after the worship service. You will receive a name tag – which everyone in the church wears, including the Pastors!

Connection Cards  We’d love to be able to stay in touch and help you get connected. We have Connection Cards on the Welcome Table just inside the doors to the sanctuary. Please fill one out, take a pen, and a free book as a gift from us!

Our Music  At First Congregational we believe in the power of worship. Worship music prepares our hearts to receive the message God has for us. Our worship is led by our Worship Leader and a team of musicians. The music ranges from contemporary high-energy, upbeat songs to slower and more contemplative songs and hymns.

Our Preaching  First Congregational is a Christ-centred, Bible-based church. Our preaching is rooted in the Word of God to help you develop your own relationship with God and learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus. We want you to walk away from our weekly services with a message you can apply directly to your lives.

Our Children  If you have children we encourage you to take advantage of our Children’s Ministries. We have a nursery and Sunday School for preschoolers to children in grade 8. No matter where your little one is in their stage of life, First Congregational is able to provide safe and secure children’s services designed just for them. Children worship with their families during the first worship set and go to Sunday School and nursery after the church prays for them each Sunday. Drop by our Children’s Ministries page to find out more.

Our Teens  We are currently inviting our youth to stay in the service on Sundays and are looking to start a youth group in the future. Visit our Youth Ministry page for more info.

Coffee Hour  We encourage you to stay after the service and get to know some of the people in our church family. We have coffee, tea, and light snacks available.

Getting Here

Seldon Street is a little street that runs parallel to Oxford Street near Quinpool, between Pepperell and Norwood. Click on the map at the top of the screen for a full map of the area.

Parking  There is limited parking on Seldon Street, with a few designated wheelchair spots. Additional parking is available on Norwood and Pepperell Streets, just to the north and south of us. We ask that unless you’re dropping someone off, the driveway would remain available for those with mobility issues.
