Our Staff
Marvin2020

Marvin Alarcon is our Lead Pastor, formerly our youth and families pastor. Marvin graduated from Centroamericano School of Theology in Guatemala City with a Theology diploma and a Masters with a major in Pastoral Leadership. These studies complemented his calling to ministry at age 19. He was raised in a Christian family, and since his conversion he served the Lord in the church where he grew up; this is why for Marvin the local church is extremely important for youth. He believes that children and youth are the future of the church. Marvin enjoys spending time with his wife Ana Patricia and their daughters. He likes to write songs in Spanish, his native language, and play his guitar. Marvin likes to read and has started to build a personal library in English. Among his favorite authors are CS Lewis, RC Sproul, John Stott and John Piper. Marvin also enjoys watching movies and soccer. Email Pastor Marvin.

 carl

Carl Jobin is our worship leader. Mostly raised in Montreal Canada, he accepted Jesus when he had a divine encounter with the the Lord at the age of 20. The Lord revealed His purpose to him soon after, to lead people into the presence of the Lord through praise and worship, to evangelize the power of the Gospel, and to go and make disciples so others may give glory to God for His amazing, sustaining grace. Healing takes place he says when we surrender our lives at the foot of the cross. Jesus speaks to us when we choose to worship Him for who He is according to scripture.

Since 1987 he has worked with countless musicians of all ages and has developed and led worship in several conferences across Canada. He's recently been developing in the area of leading workshops on "How to lead worship" and the nuts and bolts of "Worship Team Ministry" dynamics. Carl also enjoys camping, walking, canoeing, swimming and reading scripture with his wife Kathy, and spending time with his children and grand children. Email Carl.

Pastor Emeritus

doug

Douglas Mott was our Senior Pastor from 1989-2019. He was ordained in 1979 and pastored in PEI before moving to Halifax in 1982. In 1998 God did a major work in Doug's life. Remembering that his call to ministry came when a pastor asked for missionaries to be sent to India, Doug went on a short term mission to Pakistan and India in 1999. The following year he and others in Halifax who were passionate about missions began “Jesus to the Nations" missions conference, an event he chaired for 12 years. Among Doug's favourite authors are J.I. Packer, John Piper, Eugene Peterson, and A.W.Tozer. Doug’s vision is to impact Halifax with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through a Body of committed believers, reaching out to university students and the unchurched. Doug and his wife Ann have two adult daughters, Katie and Sarah.
